Our Philosophy

In the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at Twin Lakes Recovery Center (TLRC) located in Gainesville, Georgia we believe that each individual has the capacity to recover from addiction. Our philosophy at TLRC affirms that addiction is a disease that can only be treated by addressing the mind, body, and spirit. We believe that an individual can recover no matter what their situation entails.

In addition to the 12-step approach utilized in our groups, we also employ proven therapeutic methods to increase self-awareness, self-compassion, and untangle the roots that complicate addictive patterns. Twin Lakes Recovery does not discriminate against anyone’s beliefs; we work with all individuals, their unique personalities and levels of spirituality. No set of beliefs is required for sobriety except for willingness to be honest and take suggestions.

We Encourage Family Members to be Involved in Treatment

We believe that maintaining sobriety/clean time is a group effort, one which also includes family. We encourage our clients’ family members to give their time and show their support. Alongside individuals in treatment, family can also make changes that may be helpful to their own serenity and happiness. At TLRC, we treat each individual and their family members’ questions and concerns with the utmost care. We seek to offer a client-friendly experience that builds upon one of the most important relationships in our lives – our families.

Our fundamental goal is to restore the individual to a healthier, happier, and more productive life, free from dependence on alcohol, addictive chemicals and destructive behaviors. We believe that each person who walks through the doors is a unique individual with a specific set of needs.

Our practices are built on the disease concept of addiction. Though addiction is incurable, it is treatable. We believe that families are as affected as the individual; whenever possible, the family system is addressed as part of the comprehensive care process. Fundamental to our daily practices is the belief that all people have equal worth. Our decisions are made based on the philosophy that each person has an inherent potential for change and growth. We maintain that certain proven principles help us all move toward continuous improvement, deeper relationships, and greater joy, even in the face of difficulties.

We will provide you with a meaningful treatment experience that addresses the whole person: Body, Mind and Spirit. We will do this without judgments or criticisms. We believe that by treating the underlying causes of a substance abuse condition you can significantly increase your chances for a full, lifelong recovery. We acknowledge the ongoing challenge that sustainable recovery requires both individual accountability and a supportive network.

TLRC provides a safe and supportive atmosphere and a staff well-versed in the recovery process. Past failures do not preclude the potential to live a life clean of addictive substances. We value our contribution to the exciting process of helping people move from hopelessness to hopefulness.
